Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions about GreenFig.

How do I apply for a course at GreenFig?

You must fill out the online application form on the GreenFig website. To qualify for enrollment you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

1.  Be a currently enrolled student in an accredited 2-year or 4-year undergraduate program (may include accredited, post-secondary certification programs)

2.  Have completed an accredited 2-year or 4-year undergraduate program (may include accredited, post-secondary certification programs)

3.  Have at least 5 years of professional or military experience

If you are currently enrolled in a higher-ed program, GreenFig reserves the right to request proof of enrollment from an accredited college/university showing you are a student in good standing.

GreenFig may also request a digital copy of your diploma or transcript from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited institution.

If you are a veteran, GreenFig may request a digital copy of your DD-214 form.

What is the criteria GreenFig uses to accept or reject applicants?

GreenFig does not evaluate applicants based upon their GPA, SAT scores or other “standardized” approaches. These have proven to be highly unreliable methods for predicting success in the workplace.

Instead, we are interested in you. We want to know what makes you tick, why you are excited about the program, what you want to achieve from it, and what you want to give to it.  And, most of all, what is the vision that you have for yourself and your career.

GreenFig assesses this based on your responses to the questions on the application. Please be thoughtful, specific and illuminate your desire to learn and contribute.

What is the application deadline for a GreenFig course?

The application deadline is August 31st for our program starting on September 13, 2017.

When will applicants be notified of acceptance?

Applicants will be notified no later than 5 business days after the submission of a completed application form.

Where is the GreenFig physical campus located?

GreenFig is headquartered in Bend, Oregon and all courses are broadcast from Bend with remote distance delivery via the GreenFig Education Broadcasting Network to various US locations (currently New York City and San Francisco Bay Area).  Interested students outside of these cities can connect with us here to receive additional information about forming cohorts in the states we currently operate in.

We are also continually evaluating options to expand our offerings to new markets and locations. If you are interested in any of the other courses we may offer, fill out the Contact form, state which course you are interested in, where you are located, and we will notify you as soon as new courses and their delivery dates are finalized.

How many applicants are accepted into a GreenFig course?

The GreenFig program is selective and designed to be hands-on as well as highly interactive. Consequently, GreenFig limits the size of each class location to 20 students or less.

If we receive interest from 5 or more students in a city not currently supported, we will consider adding a class to that location, if it is within a state we operate in. Please specify in the application if this is applicable to you. We will contact you directly with options.

Why can’t I take the course on my own time?

GreenFig has experimented with a number of learning environments. By far, the best option for students to absorb complex subject matter is when it is delivered in real-time and where students can interact, virtually or physically,  with each other and an instructor.

We have found that complex subject matter courses that are delivered asynchronously are simply inadequate to provide deep learning, in spite of the claims of companies or institutions offering such programs.

Additionally, GreenFig supplements its programs with a real work experience project. It is virtually impossible to do this without real-time interaction between students, instructors, and mentors.

This is one of the reasons that GreenFig graduates have a high placement rate.

Here is a quote from a CEO who hired a GreenFig graduate:

“We interviewed many candidates for a digital marketing role and elected to hire one of the graduates of the GreenFig program. Her training from GreenFig made her stand out from other candidates and she has been an outstanding contributor to our company. I highly recommend other companies to actively support and recruit GreenFig graduates.”

How does GreenFig make its selection process?

All applicants are screened by a selection committee made up of various GreenFig instructors, advisors, and staff. The selection committee makes its recommendation to the GreenFig executive team who makes the final decision to accept any applicant into any course.

GreenFig reserves the right to reject any applicant for any reason or no reason.

Beyond the minimum criteria of being enrolled in, or a graduate of, an accredited 2- or 4-year higher-ed program, or a professional with at least 5 years work experience, the selection committee looks for three key attributes:

1. Passion to work hard. Not everyone can be a professional athlete or score perfect SATs. However, people who are successful – no matter what their innate abilities are – tend to work harder than their peers to accomplish an objective.

2. Attention to detail. One of the defining characteristics of successful people is their attention to the small details. Identifying all the elements of a project and ensuring they are well executed are key differentiators.

3. Commitment to excellence. It is not enough to just do something. Successful people want their work to stand out over others irrespective of what the work is and to be recognized as excellent by their peers and others.

How does GreenFig select its instructors?

GreenFig hand picks its instructors and guest speakers from industry-leading companies that are recognized for their best practices. Many of the people who GreenFig invites to teach are senior executives and/or expert practitioners with years of successful industry experience.

Is GreenFig an “accredited” educational institution?

No. GreenFig is not accredited. You will not receive college/university course credit for your course at GreenFig. Instead, GreenFig courses provide invaluable, complementary skills to an academic program.

GreenFig is not a diploma mill. You can expect to work hard to earn your microdegree and certification. GreenFig’s reputation and brand is based upon the percentage of graduates able to secure positions in industry within 1 year of matriculating from the GreenFig program.

What can I expect to learn from my GreenFig course?

You will be taught by industry experts about business strategy and business science. But strategy without execution is meaningless. At GreenFig, you will learn how to execute business strategy by setting up and managing business application software and the other systems companies use to run their business.

For example, in Digital Marketing Science, you will learn how to set up and use social media software, Google Adwords, Google Analytics, content management solutions as well as Marketo application software – a leading marketing automation solution. And, you will apply your skills on a real-world project to gain practical work experience.

Understanding business strategy, business science, how to set up and run business application software solutions that are in demand by industry, and gaining real work experience will make you a highly desirable job candidate.

No other educational program can provide you an experience similar to GreenFig.

When do I need to pay my tuition for a course at GreenFig?

After you have been notified of your selection into the program, you will need to pay your tuition in full before you will be officially enrolled into a program course. You will have 15 days from the time you are notified of your selection into the program to pay your tuition.

GreenFig will send notification of selection via email to the email address you provided in your application. The email will include your unique link to pay your tuition on our website. GreenFig accepts all major credit and debit cards as well as PayPal. Enrolled students will have 14 days after payment to withdraw from any course to receive a full refund. You may withdraw by contacting us here. If the course or program begins in less than 14 days after payment is made, all fees are non-refundable.

Are there any financial scholarships available?

GreenFig does not offer financial scholarships or financial aid at this point in time. However, from time to time, GreenFig receives sponsorships and donations that it awards as merit scholarships. Greenfig provides merit scholarships to certain students based solely upon GreenFig selection committee recommendations.

Does GreenFig have a payment plan?

GreenFig does not currently offer a payment plan for tuition fees.

Am I guaranteed a job when I graduate from GreenFig?

There are many companies beyond the ones GreenFig works closely with that are seeking job applicants with the skills we teach. GreenFig instructors are happy to serve as references for successful graduates.
